POSSIBLE OUTCOMES WHEN YOU CONTEST YOUR TRAFFIC TICKET
When you cave-in to the process and plead guilty, that ticket will remain on your driving record for years. During that time, your insurance premiums will probably increase. Also, if you get another ticket and points accumulate you run the risk of your drivers' license being suspended. The possible results when you contest your ticket include:
Full Dismissal
If you have a clean record, or if the officer or the court has made a mistake or there are errors on your ticket, It is likely that we can get the matter dismissed. That means there is no fine, no points and the ticket will not show up on your driving record. This is the best result and we work to that end on all tickets on which we work.
Reduction to a Non-Moving Violation
If the Officer appears and answers ready for trial, we often will negotiate with the judge to reduce the charge to a non-moving violation. When this happens, you'll likely have to pay a fine, but the original moving violation will be dismissed and not go on your driving record or reported to insurance carriers, and your employment will most likely not be affected by the ticket. Often we can move the court to lower fine, but the real savings is that your insurance premiums, and future tickets will not have a cumulative effect. We also work to extend the time to pay if in fact we obtain a no-points, non-moving violation.
Ticket Points Reduced
Depending on the original infraction, we often can reduce the infraction to a lesser offense which reduces the number of points that you will incur against your license. This sometimes may be coupled with traffic school, which would eliminate the remaining points. There are many factors involved in these negotiations, and it often depends on the judge and/or officer involved and through our experience, we know how to get the best results. Of course, the more serious infractions are the most difficult, and we must qualify all of this with the advise of please slow down, and drive safely, we do not promote or condone continued violations. Although we are always here to help, we would rather that you know become a repeat offender.
Traffic School / Defensive Driving Class
Sometime the court will offer deals whereby they'll drop the ticket if you take some sort of driving class. Once you take the class, the ticket does not appear on your driving record. Not all tickets qualify for these deals, and this option is often limited, although we know how to negotiate around some of these limitations. We generally work to a traffic school resolution when all else fails which may be because of the severity of the infraction that you have incurred. However, this is still a good result and will save you quite a bit in insurance premiums in the long run.
Committed
Unfortunately, once in while there is nothing that can be done. The office is ready to testify with all the requisite documents and the judge will no negotiate a plea deal. This generally does not happen. And because in almost every case we are able to obtain a positive result, we share the risk and will refund the fees you paid (See refund policy to make sure your situation is eligible for a refund). Again, we do not anticipate that will be the result and we are confident we can help you out.
